Petition from Lycopolis, Egypt, written on papyrus. The petition is directed to the prefect of Egypt (praefectus Aegypti) by Aurelios Hierax son of Besas and grandson of Hierakion who belongs to the settlers in Lycopolis. The scribe of the council had appointed Hierax to become the guardian of a minor even though Hierax had already performed the heaviest civil services Hierax now claims poverty as an excuse
