Receipt of a shipper
Description
The sailor Achais takes over a cargo of wheat, probably from sitologi, in order to convey it from Kerke to Alexandria and to deliver it there to the proper officials. The loading is controlled, amongst others, by a committee of euschemones. The sailor's promise to deliver the cargo is guaranteed by a certain Didymos. The receipt itself (1-13) seems to have been written by a clerk in the office of the sitologi themselves. The second part (14-23) contains the subscription written by a clerk Serenos on behalf of Achais. Then follows, again in the first hand, a short description of Serenos.
