Homeric papyrus (Odyssey 22.226-241)
Description
Homer, Odyssey 22.226-241;The text gives one reading which is at variance with the receptus text (233), but which is supported by most MSS and by the vulgate tradition.;231: "ktem[ath": the dot over mu appears to be a simple slip of the pen. It is not meant to cancel the letter.;233: "istaso": rec. "istao". The Michigan reading is vulagte and is supported, e.g. by P.Oxy. III 448 ad loc. But the reading of one MS (Harleianus 5674) of the thirteenth century, istao (present middle imperative) is far superior. An imperative is necessary to parallel the two other imperatives in the line (age, ide). Zenodotus and Aristarchus both read :paristao".;236: et]...[lk]ea: the area between the lacunae is too badly stripped to be read with any confidence. There is space for 3 letters. the receptus text's -era- would fir well.
