π καταξιώσῃ σου ἡ θαυμασιότης μεταστείλασθαι Ἰακωβ τὸν γεωργὸν τοῦ Γραῖδος καὶ ποιήσῃ αὐτὸν παραγενέσθαι ἅμα τοῖς ἀποσταλεῖσιν παρ’ ἐμοῦ ποταμίταις εἰς τὴν αὐτοῦ μηχανὴν καὶ δεῖξαι αὐτοῖς τὸν τόπον τοῦ χώματος τοῦ νεοφύτου ἵνα ἐκεῖσε ἐργάσωνταιἐργάσονται. πληρῶσαιπληρῶση δεῖ τὸν τόπον τῆς ἀμπέλου εἰς τὰς τέσσαρας ἀρούρας ἐκτὸςεκτ τοῦ χώματος. ἔγραψα δὲ καὶ Θεoδώρῳ τῷ προνοητῇ παρασχεῖν αὐτοῖς λόγῳ ἀρραβῶνοςἀραβῶνος, τοῦτ’ ἔστιν σίτου ἀρτάβας δύο καὶ ἀργυρίου μυριάδας τετρακοσίας πεντήκοντα. ἐπίδος τῷ κυρίῳ μου θαυμαδε seal παρὰ Θεοδώρου λαμπροτάτουTranslations (1)
May your magnificence deem it worthy to send Jacob the farmer of Graidos and make him arrive together with those sent by me, the rivermen, to his machine and show them the place of the newly planted ground so that they may work there. The place of the vineyard must be filled to the four aruras, excluding the ground. I have also written to Theodore the procurator to provide them with a token of a pledge, that is, two artabas of wheat and four hundred fifty myriads of silver. Deliver to my lord, the wondrous, from the illustrious Theodore.
