Ἀσκληπιάδει χαίρειν· περὶ τῶν ἐκ τοῦ Μεμφίτου πενταρούρων μαχίμων εν γεγράφαμεν ὅτινοτι τοὺς κλήρους ἔχοντες ἐν τῷ Μεμφίτῃ καὶ συντασσσυντάσσοντας συντασσ ἐπιδεδημηκότεςπαρεπιδεδημηκότες δ’ εἰς τὸν Ἀρσινοίτην πράττεσθαι ὑπὸ τωτῶν τελωνῶν ἔγραψας ἀντέγραψας γραψας ἡμῖν δικαιολογεῖσθαι τοὺς τελώνας φάσκοντας νον παρεπιδημεῖν· ἀγνώμονες οὖν εἰσὶν οἱ τελῶναι τάσσεσθαι· καθήκει γὰρ αὐτοῖς καταβάλλειν ουκαιτ μβ τῆς καταβολῆςχη καταβολῇ ἐπιδεικνύοντας εἰς οὓς ἂν εισουσαν ο vestiges ηδλδυ vestiges σιν τῇ συνοχῇτη συνοχη σ πενταρουρ αραυρτ λ ηεφλπουρυλη καλῶς οὖν ποιήσῃςποιήσειςποιήσειςποιήσις συντάξας αὐτοῖς μὴ συκο φαντείν ἡμᾶςοὐκ π μὴ δὶςων δὶς τὰ αὐτὰ πράσσοντας. ἔρρωσo ἔτους ιδ Μεσορὴ ιβ.Translations (1)
Greetings to Asklepiades. Concerning the warlike assignments from Memphis, we have written that those holding lots in Memphis and those newly [settled] in the Arsinoite were to be collected by the tax collectors. You have written to us offering them for justification, the collectors claiming that they do not reside here. Therefore, the tax collectors are ill-advised to enroll [them]; for it is incumbent upon them to remit the payments, showing to whom they should [show] the collections of the pentauron [...] and ensure to arrange for them not to falsely accuse us in the same matters twice. Farewell in the year 14, Mesore 12.
