N��jid b. Muslim gives ìAbd All�� b. Asìad specific instructions on how to collect the Sadaqa and Zak��t from Muslims in the villages he is responsible for, sealing the money he receives before sending it and gathering in the goats and sheep paid to him. He is told to have the taxes go accompanied by a document recording the names, patronymics, tribes and towns of the tax-payers. The letter starts with religious formulae presenting these taxes as imposed by God on the members of His community.
