Prayer to Dioscuri
Description
The prayer on the ostracon was addressed to the Dioscuri precisely in their role of Savior Gods. The text is unfortunately much damaged, but there is little doubt that it was a personal prayer. No other inference is quite reasonable in view of the name Muranos in l. 2. The meaning of the broken text in ll. 1-2 is in all likelihood accurately represented by "save Muranon". Nevertheless, the three-fold invocation has a liturgical flavor.
