Description

Beilklingen wurden in Kerma hauptsächlich im Wüstensand sowie im Schutt der Grabtumuli gefunden, nicht jedoch in den Grabkammern. Sie gehören zu einer Formgruppe, die in Ägypten und Nubien in prädynastischer Zeit verbreitet war. In Nubien wurde diese Form weiterverwendet, wobei jedoch die Häufigkeit der Funde bis zur Kerma-Zeit stark abnahm. Diese Beilklinge aus Granit wurde vermutlich in der Region um Kerma gefertigt, wo sich Steinbrüche mit großem Granitvorkommen belegen lassen.
