Description
Die Stele aus der 26. Dynastie ist eine der frühesten Zeugnisse des Kultes der heiligen Apisstiere in Memphis. Ihre Schauseite zeigt fünf Zeilen flüchtig eingeritztes Demotisch, der abgerundete undekorierte Stelenabschluss ist mittels einer Linie abgetrennt. Das Stück wurde dem Gott von einem Privatmann namens Oaphres mit dem Wunsch nach ewigem Leben gewidmet: „Osiris-Apis, er gewähre | Leben an Oaphres, | Sohn des Peteyris, im 23. | Regierungsjahr (= Amasis): Er möge dauern ewig | bis in die Unendlichkeit!“ (Jan Moje)
