Description
Der Napf, der eine feingeriffelte Oberfläche aufweist, wurde in Grab Nr. 2110 in Matmar gefunden. Diese Art der Dekoration der Keramik repräsentiert eines der Leitmotive der Badari-Kultur mit bislang ungeklärtem Ursprung. Es scheint in einem Gebiet in Oberägypten gesiedelt zu haben, das ab dem 4. Jtsd. v. Chr. von der Naqada-Kultur bewohnt wurde. Bis heute ist unklar, ob sich die jüngere Naqada-Kultur von den Badari ableitet oder ob sie die ältere Kultur während des 4. Jtsd. auf irgendeine Weise ersetzt hat. (R. Kuhn)
