Relief aus dem Totentempel des Sahure: Krüge als Tribute aus Syrien
Description
Abgebildet sind zwei Henkelgefäße. Von einem dritten ist nur noch knapp die Hälfte des Gefäßbauches zu sehen. Derartige Gefäße sind bereits seit der frühdynastischen Zeit aus Kanaan, dem heutigen syrisch-palästinensischen Raum, nach Ägypten importiert worden. Dies ist u. a. durch Funde in einigen Königsgräbern der ersten beiden Dynastien in Abydos belegt. Die Gefäße konnten kostbare Öle, Harze und andere Ingredienzien als Importgüter enthalten oder sie wurden nach ihrer Ankunft in Ägypten vor Ort gefüllt.
