Igel (Hedgehog figure)
Description
Der Igel erfreut sich seit vorgeschichtlicher Zeit (4. Jht. v. Chr.) großer Beliebtheit, da er die friedliche Natur symbolisiert. Er tritt im Alten Reich im Relief in den Landschaftsdarstellungen auf, erscheint im Mittleren Reich häufig als kleine Figur in der Grabausstattung und ist dann wieder in den Grabmalereien des Neuen Reiches vertreten. Auch Skaraboide und Gefäße sind in Igelform erhalten, eine religiöse Bedeutung hat der Igel aber nicht. O. Zorn
