Description

Amphoren aus Mergelton eigneten sich durch ihre Wasserundurchlässigkeit zum Transport und zur Aufbewahrung von Flüssigkeiten wie Weinen und Ölen. Luftdicht verschlossen mit einem Stopfen aus Nilschlamm, konnten sie in einem Ständer aufrecht stehend oder schräg liegend über einen längeren Zeitraum gelagert werden. Die Amphore weist eine für die Amarnazeit typische Form auf. (S. Breuer)
