Description

Im Neuen Reich erfreute sich Ohrschmuck großer Beliebtheit und war daher in Ägypten weit verbreitet. Das früheste Auftreten dieser Schmuckart ist noch immer Gegenstand von Diskussionen, wobei die Vorschläge vom Alten bis zum Mittleren Reich gehen. Sowohl Männer als auch Frauen trugen Ohrschmuck, der aus vielfältigen Materialien hergestellt werden konnte, so z. B. aus Bein, Fayence, Glas, Muscheln, Stein aber auch Gold, Silber oder Kupfer. (J.
