Isis mit Horus (Isis lactans) (Statuette of the Enthroned Goddess Isis Nursing Her Son Horus)
Description
Die Figurengruppe verkörpert die thronende Göttin Isis zusammen mit ihrem Sohn Horus. Er sitzt auf dem Schoß der Göttin, während sie mit der linken Hand den Kopf des Kindes stützt und mit der rechten die Brust hält. Isis galt als Schutzgöttin der Verstorbenen, aber auch als die große Zauberin, deren magische Beschwörungen Kinder vor Krankheiten und allem Bösen beschützten. Ihr Bild lebt in der christlichen Darstellung von der Gottesmutter Maria mit dem Jesus-Knaben fort. (J. Helmbold-Doyé)
