Die Lehre des Amunnacht / 〈02. 〉oBM EA 41541

Beginning of the teaching of education, the sayings of the (right) way of life, which the scribe Amunnacht has composed 〈for〉 his assistant/apprentice Horimin, wherein he says: You are (at this moment in the role) of someone who listens to speeches (literally: you are as a man in hearing speeches), in order to distinguish good from evil. Be (therefore) attentive (literally: give your face)! Listen to my words! Do not neglect/overlook what I have told you! It is exceedingly pleasant to be found as a man on whom one can rely in every task. Let your heart become like a great dike! (For) the flood beside it is immense. Accept my statement in its entirety (?; or: with all its provisions). Do not be unwilling to heed (?) it! Keep all professions before your eyes (and) everything that has been written down, so that you will gain insight into the way to say what is appropriate (?), (for example) the saying that I have told you. Do not turn away from the words of ancient times (?)! A vehement/coarse statement: it is out of place (literally: a great communication, it is not in its place). Let your heart be steadfast/unshakeable (?) when it is hasty! You shall (first) speak after {it} 〈you〉 have been announced. You shall become a scribe, and you shall traverse the house of life. Anfang der Erziehungslehre, der Sprüche des (rechten) Lebensweges, die der Schreiber Amunnacht verfaßt hat 〈für〉 seinen Assistenten/Lehrling Horimin, wobei er sagt: Du bist (im Augenblick in der Rolle) von jemandem, der Reden zuhört (wörtl.: du bist als ein Mann beim Hören von Reden), um Gutes von Bösem zu unterscheiden. Sei (also) aufmerksam (wörtl.: gib dein Gesicht)! Höre auf meine Worte! Vernachlässige/Übergehe nicht, was ich dir gesagt habe! Überaus angenehm ist es, (als) ein Mann befunden zu werden, auf den man bei jeder Arbeit zählen kann. Laß dein Herz wie ein großer Deich werden! (Denn) die Flut neben ihm ist gewaltig. Akzeptiere meine Aussage in seiner Gesamtheit (?; oder: mit allen seinen Bestimmungen). Sei nicht unwillig, (sie) zu beachten (?)! Halte dir alle Berufe vor Augen (und) alles, was schriftlich abgefaßt worden ist, damit du Einsicht bekommen wirst in der Art, das Zutreffende zu sagen (?), (etwa) den Ausspruch, den ich dir gesagt habe. Wende dich nicht ab von den Worten der alten Zeit (?)! Eine heftige/grobe Wortmeldung: sie ist fehl am Platz (wörtl.: eine große Mitteilung, sie ist nicht an ihrem Platz). Laß dein Herz standhaft/unerschütterlich (?) sein, wenn es hastig ist! Du sollst (erst) reden, nachdem {es} 〈du〉 angemeldet worden bist. Du sollst Schreiber werden, und du sollst das Lebenshaus durchlaufen. Werde wie eine Bücherkiste! [...] Monat der Aussaat, [... Tag].
