Description

[Egypt, Mamluk sultanate (1250–1517)] The text includes verses from the 39th chapter of the Qur’an, "Surah al-Zumar." The Arabic text is written in Rayhani script, one of the six official scripts of Perso-Arabic calligraphy, and ornamented with red, blue, and gold rosettes. There is a red, blue, and gold roundel in the border on the verso (front).
