Description
[Egypt, late Byzantine or early Islamic period, 7th Century] This colorful and finely woven band combines motifs of the Byzantine period, such as the bird and flanking palmettes (fan-shaped leaves), with new fashions that emerged with the spread of Islam, such as the roundel with a pearl border.
