A memorandum from Palous to Zenon listing the equipment taken from a boat, including a fir mast, yards, a tamarisk rudder, poles, oars, a papyrus sail and ropes. It belongs to the Zenon archive from Philadelphia in the Fayum, about October 250 BC.

In English machine translation

Memorandum to Zenon from Palous, of the gear from the boat: a mast of fir wood, 23 cubits; a yard, 15 cubits; 2 other yards joined together; a rudder of tamarisk wood; 3 poles; 2 oars; a papyrus sail of […] cubits; 60 ropes.

Below the Greek is an apparently unrelated demotic text dated 3 (?) Thoth, year 36. The 'yards' are the spars carrying the sail; 'joined together' may mean spliced from pieces.

Working translation of the DDbDP edition, made with Claude Opus 5.5 from the edition and the catalogue records shown below (catalogued as Memorandum to Zenon from Palous). It has not been reviewed by a papyrologist: check the edition before citing. Restorations follow the edition; […] marks lost text and (?) an uncertain reading.
