Δημητρίωι τῶι παρ’ Ἀθηνοδώρου τοῦ διοικητοῦ παρὰ Ἀμεννέως τοῦ Τεῶτος κεραμέως τῶν ἐκ Μαχόρ. ἐμοῦ ἐπαντλοῦντος εἰς τὸν Πολιάν θου κλῆρον ἀπὸ τῆς δ τοῦ Ἁθὺρ μηνὸς ἐπελθὼν Ἑριεὺς ἙσιήουςἙσιέους κωμοφυλακίτης ἀπήγαγέν με εἰς τὴν φυλακὴν καὶ τοὺς παρ’ ἐμοῦ ἀντλητὰς ἀνεσόβησεν ὥστε καὶ ἀσπορῆσαί μου τὴν γῆν καὶ οὐκ ἀφῆ κέ με ἐκ τῆς φυλακῆς μέχρι τοῦ με δοῦ ναι δραχμὰς Αυ ὑποθεὶς τὴν οἰκίαν μου. τοῦ δ’ Ἀθηνοδώρου τοῦ διοικητοῦ παραγενομένου ἐνέ τυχον αὐτῶι μεθ’ ὑπομνήματος περὶ τούτων καὶ γράψαντος αὐτοῦ Σπαρ τάκωι τῶι ἐπιμελητῆι ὅπως τὰ δί καιά μοι γένηται καὶ τοῦ Σπαρτάκου γράψαντος Ἀμμωνίωι τῶι τῆς κώμης ἐπιστάτηι ἀποστεῖλαι τὸν Ἑριέα Ἀμμώνιος, πεισθεὶς ὁ Ἀμμώνιος ὁ μεταλαβὼν οὐ κ ἀπέστειλεν ἕως τοῦ νῦν. ἀξιῶ οὖν μετὰ πάσης δεήσεως, ἐπειδὴ πᾶσιν ἀπονέμειςἀπο νέμει καὶ τὰ δίκαια ποίειςποεῖς, γράψαι ὧι καθήκει ἀποστεῖλαι ἐπὶ σὲ τὸν Ἑριέα φυλακίτην ὅπως τὴν περὶ τού των ἐπίσκεψιν ποιήσῃς, τούτου δὲ γενομένου τεύξομαι τῆς παρὰ σοῦ βοηθείας. εὐτύχει. ἔτους ιε Χοιὰχ κζ παρὰ Ἀμεννέως τῶν ἐκ Μαχὸρ κατὰ Ἑριέως ὑπὲρ δραχμῶν Αυ.Translations (1)
To Demetrios, from Athenodoros the administrator, from Amennes the potter, son of Teos of the district of Machor. As I was drawing from the wells into the plot at Poulyon, on the 4th of Hathor, Herieus, son of Hesieous and village guard, came up and led me to prison and insulted my water bearers so that my land went unsown, and he did not release me from custody until I paid 31 drachmas by pledging my house. When Athenodoros the administrator arrived, I approached him with a memorandum about these matters. He wrote to Spartakos, the superintendent, so that justice might be done for me, and Spartakos wrote to Ammonios, the overseer of the village, to send Herieus. Ammonios, however persuaded, has not sent him until now. Therefore, I respectfully entreat you, since you deal out justice to everyone and do what is right, to write to the one responsible to send Herieus the guard to you so that you may investigate these matters. If this is done, I shall obtain the assistance from you. Farewell. Year 15, Choiach 27th, from Amennes of the district of Machor against Herieus concerning 31 drachmas.
