EN scholarly · C. van Egdom
In the ninth year of Imperator Caesar Titus Aelianus Hadrianus Antoninus Augustus Pius, on the 11th of the month Pharmouthi, in Pelousion, in the Themistos division of the Arsinoite nome. Papontos, also called Sotis, son of Papeis, grandson of Papeeis, Persian of the epigone, as he states, of those of the village of Herakleia, of the same division, about 35 years old, with a scar on his right shin, acknowledges to Arseis, daughter of Mystes the elder, son of Mystes, with her guardian, her kinsman, Heraios, son of Chrysas, that the acknowledging party has received from her from hand to hand, of eighty-two drachmas of silver as a deposit, free of all risk and subject to no claim of any reduction, and that he will give them back to her whenever Arseis demands them back, without any delay and dispute, there being the right to Arseis to exact payment both from Papontos, and from all his property, as if by legal decision…. Back: Herakleia
