To Flavius Christophorus, the most magnificent pagarch of the northern quarter of this city, through you Kosmas, his esteemed chartoularios. I, Elias the bread seller, son of George from the city of Heracleopolis hereby write in my own hand. I, the aforesaid Elias, acknowledge that I have received and accepted from you, for the issue of the ration of the same northern district, twenty artabas of wheat, making twenty artabas of wheat, and am ready to supply you with these in bread without hindrance, whenever you may wish it, and for your security I have made the present document to be authoritative. And when questioned, I, Elias the bread seller, son of George, confirmed and released the document, drawn up by me, Anup the legal notary, from the city of Heracleopolis as a record from Elias the bread seller of twenty artabas of wheat for Flavius Christophorus, the most magnificent pagarch, Hathur 24, of the 6th indiction.
