The prefect will hear cases of homicide, brigandage, poisoning, kidnapping, rustling of livestock, armed assault, counterfeit and forgery and fraud, the destruction of testaments, grave personal injury, and all accusations that patrons bring against their freedmen or parents against their children. To all others I will not grant a hearing unless they have lodged appeals and have made a deposit of one-fourth of the estimated value of the case.
