Athenodoros to the agoranomoi greetings! The copy of the memorandum from praktor Pyrrhos is appended below for you. Hence, register the purchase of the slave for Thaÿbastis accordingly. Farewell, year 8, Hathyr 28” (7 Jan. 197). To Athenodoros the dioiketes from Pyrrhos. In accordance with the decree promulgated on year 8, Phaophi 2nd (12 Nov. 198) concerning those who hold Egyptians enslaved during the unrest in the country, Thaÿbastis, the daughter of Sokrates, a Syrian, with her guardian Apollonios, of the soldiers under the command of Anthemides, Cretan, paymaster of the elite cuirassiers, has declared Thasion, aged 18, whom she says to be Egyptian. Thaÿbastis has made the payment into the account of the king at the bank of Philip on Xandikos 15, year 8 (19 Nov. or 19 Dec. 198), 500 bronze drachmas, plus agio of 52 drachmas, 4 obols, and the resulting tax on slaves, 110 bronze drachmas, 5 obols, in full (?). If you agree, order the registration of the purchase for Thaÿbastis, who is 30 years old, short, with honey-colored complexion, round-faced, and a mark on her right cheek, with her guardian Apollonios son of Apollonios, 40 years old, of medium size, with honey-colored complexion, a balding head, his ears protruding, and a mark on the left side of his forehead, living at Arsinoe Euergetis street. Purchase of Thasion, who is 18 years old, short, of dark complexion, round-faced, has many marks, well recognizable. Year 8, Hathyr 26, Daisios 4.
