Μεσσίῳ Αὔδακι ἑκατοντάρχῃ παρὰ Στοτοήτιος τοῦ Ἀπύγχεως ἱερέως ἀπὸ κώμης Σοκνοπαίου Νήσου. Στοτοῆτις ὁ καὶ Φανῆσις Στο τοήτιος καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ Ἁρπαγάθης καὶ Ὧρος ὀφείλοντές μοι κατʼ οὐδὲν ἐπιστρέφονται ἀποδοῦναίἀποδῶναί μοι διαπλα νῶντες καὶ ὑπερτιθέμενοι, ἀλλʼ ἔτι καὶ ἐπήλθοσάν μοι καὶ ὕβριν οὐ τὴν τυχοῦσαν συνετελέσαντο καὶ πληγὰς ἐπήνεγκαν καταρήξαντες καὶ ὃν εἶχον χιτῶνακιτῶνα, ἐπαγγελλόμενοι καὶ τοῦ ζῆν μεταστῆσαι· ὅθεν οὐ δυ νάμενος καθησυχάζειν ἀξιῶ ἀχθῆ ναι αὐτοὺς ἐπὶ σὲ πρὸς τὴν δέουσαν ἐπέξοδον.Translations (2)
An Messius Audax, den centurio , von Stotoêtis, Sohn des Apy[n]chis, Priester aus dem Dorf Soknopaiû Nêsos. Stotoêtis alias Phanêsis, Sohn des Stotoêtis, und (seine) Brüder Harpagathês und Hôros, die bei mir Schulden haben, denken gar nicht daran, sie mir zurückzuzahlen, wobei sie Ausflüchte machen und (die Sache) aufschieben, sondern darüber hinaus kamen sie zu mir, beleidigten mich in nicht geringem Maße und versetzten mir Schläge, wobei sie den chitôn , den ich trug, zerrissen und drohten, mir sogar das Leben zu nehmen. Weil ich das nicht ruhig hinnehmen kann, ersuche ich darum, daß sie Dir zur gebührenden Bestrafung vorgeführt werden.
To Messius Audax, centurio , from Stotoetis, son of Apynchis, priest from the village of Soknopaiou Nesos. Although Stotoetis alias Phanesis, son of Stotoetis, and his brothers Harpagathes and Horos, are in debt to me, they are making no effort to repay me, but making excuses and delaying, and on top of that they came up to me, acted violently in a quite unfitting manner, belaboured me with blows and even ripped the chiton which I was wearing, and threatened to dispatch me from life. TTherefore, as I can find no rest because of this, I request that they be brought before you for fitting punishment.
