Σερῆνος Ἀπολιναρίῳ τῷ πατρὶπατρεὶ πολλὰ χαί ρειν. πρὸ παντὸς εὔχο μαίευχομε σε ὑγιαίνειν. τὸ προσκύνημά σου ποιῶ παρὰ πᾶσι τοῖς θεοῖς. ἐκομισάμην παρὰ Πτο λεμινουπτολεμιαουΠτολεμιανοῦ μῆλα ξγ καὶ παρὰ τῆς γυναικὸς Σερή νου ἄλλα ια, καὶ γινώ σκειν σε θέλω, ὅτι πάντα ἠφάνισται καὶ οὐκ εὕ ρηκα δῶναι οἷς ἔγρα ψές μοι, ἄλλὰ ἠγόρακα, ἵναεἵνα πέμψωπένψωτι ἐνδῶ αὐτοῖς. καὶ γινώσκειν σε θέλω, ὅτι καθʼ ἡμέρανἡμερα ὑπάγω παρὰ Σεραπιάδα τὴν ζυτό πωλινζυτώπολεινζυτοπωλεῖνζυτώπολειν καὶ οὐ δίδωσιδιδι μοι, ἀλ λὰ καθʼ ἡμέρανἡμερα λέγειλέγι, ὅτι σή μερον αὔριοναὐρεινυριν. καθʼ ἡμέρανἡμερα τὰ αὐτὰταυτὰταῦτα. καὶ ἂν κείρηταικίρηται Εἰσί δωρος, τί θέλεις ἀπενέγ κωἀπενένκω αὐτῷ; καὶ οὔπωοὔπου δέ δωκεοὐ παραδέδωκε Εἰρηναῖς τοὺς ἑπτὰ στατῆραςστατῆρες. ἀσπάζεταί σε Εἰρηναῖς καὶ Μαρεῖνος καὶ Διογένης καὶ Σερῆ νος καὶ κυρίαΚυρίλλα καὶ Ὡρίων καὶ Ἀφροδισία. ἐρρῶσθαί σε εὔχομαι. Serenus to Apollinarius, his father, many greetings. First of all, I pray that you are well. I make offerings for you before all the gods. I have received from Ptolemy, son of Ptolemy, forty-three apples, and from the wife of Serenus, another eleven. And I want you to know that everything has disappeared and I have not found anything to send as you wrote to me, but I have bought [something], in order to send it. And I want you to know that every day I go to Serapiada the beer-seller, and she does not give me, but every day she says, "Today, tomorrow." Every day the same. And if Isidorus shaves himself, what do you want me to bring him? And Irina has not yet given over the seven staters. Irina greets you, and so do Marinus, Diogenes, Serenus, Kyrilla, Orion, and Aphrodisia. I pray for your health. Mesorê 16th. Deliver to Apollinarius, your soldier, from Serenus, son.
